Mad Max: Fury Road and Leonardo DiCaprio may have been big winners at this year’s Oscars. However the biggest shock of the evening was the Best Picture Oscar being awarded to Spotlight.

“In 2001, the journalists of The Boston Globe’s Spotlight team begin investigating Father John Geoghan, who is accused of molesting more than 80 boys. As they dig deeper and acknowledge their paper’s own failings, the team uncovers a conspiracy of lawyers and government officials who helped the Boston Archdiocese hide the pedophilia of many priests and deny justice to the victims.”
In what was deemed the big winner of tonight’s Oscars, Mad Max: Fury Road took home six Oscars, but failed to win any of the big prizes including Best Picture. These included Best Production Design, Best Film Editing, and both Best Sound awards.
Alejandro González Iñárritu made history by becoming the first Mexican to win back-to-back Best Director Oscars. Iñárritu won last year for Birdman, which also netted him a Best Picture Oscar.

During his Oscar acceptance speech, DiCaprio pointed out the problem with climate change, and that there needed to be a drastic change in protecting the environment.

Tonights Oscars was deemed very snub-worthy. Actor Mark Rylance took home the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in the Steven Spielberg film Bridge of Spies. Many had predicted that actor Sylvester Stallone would take home the Oscar for his portrayal of legendary boxer-turned-trainer Rocky Balboa in Creed. Stallone had won most of the major awards including the Golden Globe. Many had taken to social media to express their disgust.

Many angry viewers took to Twitter in disgust after it his win was announced. Though Smith did dedicate his win to the LGBTQ community, many felt the song was not the best and should’ve not been nominated to begin with.

Actress Alicia Vikander beat out Kate Winslet to win the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in The Danish Girl. Winslet was heavily favored to win for her role in Steve Jobs, though Vikander had won many awards for her role.

Entertainment Weekly went on to recap the best of Rock’s Oscar jokes.
“Everybody went mad [this year] … Jada [Pinkett Smith] got mad. Jada said she’s not coming. Isn’t she on a TV show? Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited.”
“I understand you’re mad. I’m not hating. … Jada’s mad her man Will [Smith] was not nominated for Concussion. I get it … It’s not fair that Will was this good and didn’t get nominated. You’re right. It’s also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for Wild Wild West, okay?”

C’est donc une grande victoire pour notre très cher Leo qui a pu enfin rejoindre le rang des acteurs Oscarisés. C’était pas trop tôt.
Juste un peu déçu que Star Wars VII n’ait pas reçu un Oscar comme vu que Mad Max a quasiment tout raflé mais bon.

Trois films ont remporté le nombre record de 11 Oscars. Il s’agit de Ben-Hur en 1960, Titanic en 1998 etLe Seigneur des anneaux, le retour du roi en 2004. Ce dernier détient également le record de 13 nominations pour un acteur, tandis que Meryl Streep a la plus grand nombre de sélections dans la catégorie meilleure actrice avec 15 nominations. Côté réalisateur, c’est John Ford qui demeure à ce jour le réalisateur le plus récompensé dans la catégorie meilleur réalisateur avec 4 statuettes. Enfin, le record absolu revient à Walt Disney avec 22 récompenses dans des catégories en compétition et 4 Oscars d’honneur.

Une soirée de bon augure pour Leonardo DiCaprio, qui a remporté le Bafta du meilleur acteur pour son rôle dans « The Revenant » d’Alejandro Gonzalez Iñàrritu.
Les récompenses continuent de pleuvoir pour Leonardo DiCaprio. Après avoir remporté le Golden Globe et le Screen Actors Guild Award du meilleur acteur pour son rôle de trappeur dans The Revenant, le comédien a à nouveau été honoré dimanche 14 février aux Bafta Awards, l’équivalent britannique des Oscars pour son interprétation de Hugh Glass dans le film événement du Mexicain Alejandro Gonzalez Iñàrritu.
En lice pour 12 Oscars le 28 février prochain, The Revenant est également reparti avec le Bafta du meilleur film et celui du meilleur réalisateur pour Alejandro Gonzalez Iñàrritu.
De son côté, Brie Larson a été distinguée pour son rôle de jeune femme séquestrée dans Room et remporté le Bafta de la meilleure actrice.

Bafta 2016 : The Revenant domine le palmarès
Le réalisateur mexicain Alejandro González Iñárritu avait échoué à triompher aux trophées du cinéma britannique (qui ne sont que très peu britanniques, ces trophées) l’an dernier avecBirdman, il s’est rattrapé ce dimanche 14 février avec The Revenant qui succède donc à Boyhoodde Richard Linklater et pourrait lui permettre d’être le premier réalisateur de l’histoire des Oscars à se succéder à lui-même dans les catégories du meilleur film et du meilleur réalisateur. Rappelons que la course est encore ouverte (relativement) et que si Spotlight de Tom Mc Carthy, The Big short d’Adam McKay et Mad Max Fury road de George Miller sont des alternatives possibles dans ces mêmes catégories, ils semblent destinés, comme ici, à se limiter aux prix du scénario pour les deux premiers et aux prix techniques pour le dernier. The Revenant reçoit au final cinq Bafta contre quatre pour Mad Max Fury Road, les autres films primés se limitant à un prix chacun. Côté acteurs, Kate Winslet reçoit son troisième prix après Raisons et Sentiments en 1996 et The Reader en 2009, les autres sont primés pour la première fois.
Les Nouveaux Sauvages, présenté en compétition au Festival de Cannes 2014, remporte le prix du film en langue étrangère. Les deux Bafta du court-métrage (animation, fiction) ont été, pour l’anecdote, réalisés par des femmes. Kate Dickie (Red Road) est l’actrice principale de Operator.

Le palmarès de la British academy film and television awards (BAFTA) a été dévoilé hier. Comme lors des Golden Globes à Los Angeles, Leonardo DiCaprio a été désigné meilleur acteur.
Comme tous les ans, les British academy film and television awards (BAFTA) ont été remis hier au Royal Opera House de Londres. « The Revenants » dans lequel Leonardo DiCaprio tient le rôle-clé, a été de nouveau nominé, comme lors des Golden Globes à Los Angeles au mois de janvier. Le comédien américain a été sacré meilleur acteur.
Leonardo DiCaprio est donc en bonne voie pour remporter un Oscar, lui qui n’a jamais remporté de statuette lors de la grand-messe du cinéma américain. Comme lors des Golden Globes, « The Revenant « a aussi été nommé meilleur film et Alejandro Iñàrritu a été sacré meilleur réalisateur. Le film, qui raconte l’histoire du trappeur Hugh Glass, laissé pour mort par ses équipiers au milieu d’une nature hostile et sauvage, a également reçu la récompense du meilleur son.
Brie Larson a été sacrée meilleure actrice pour sa prestation dans « Room » de Lenny Abrahamson. « Mad Max : Fury road » a reçu quatre récompenses : meilleure photographie, meilleur maquillage, meilleurs costumes et meilleur montage.

2016 Golden Globes: Complete Winners List
Trophies were handed out at the 73rd annual Golden Globes Sunday night with Ricky Gervais serving as the award show host.
The first big winner of the night was Kate Winslet, who accepted the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in « Steve Jobs. » Her « Titanic » co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio, also took home an award and received a standing ovation for his role in « The Revenant. »
One of the biggest wins of the evening was Sylvester Stallone, who took home the Golden Globe award for his role in « Creed. » The actor was last nominated for a Globe in 1977.
Other stand-out moments included the acceptance speeches by Lady Gaga, who compared her win to « Cher in … ‘Moonstruck,' » along with actress Taraji P. Henson, who passed out cookies to the crowd as she made her way to the stage; a nod to her winning the Best Actress in a TV Series award for her role as Cookie Lyon in « Empire. »
Denzel Washington took home the Cecil B. DeMille Award. The actor brought his entire family onstage to receive the lifetime achievement honor.

People’s Choice Awards 2016: Complete winners list
The People’s Choice Awards, hosted this year by Lynch, honor the year’s pop-culture favorites from movies, TV, music, gaming and social media.
Lynch, whose CBS comedy Angel from Hell debuts Thursday (Jan. 7), kicked off the awards show with a dance number parodying songs including « Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) » and Walk the Moon’s « Shut Up and Dance. »
Calling herself a « slightly more masculine Neil Patrick Harris, » Lynch followed up her song and dance with a monologue, calling out People’s Choice voters. « You’re the ones who watched a rat dragging a pizza down a flight of stairs 9 million times, » she said. « You’re the ones who made the man bun an OK thing for a dude to wear. »
Later in the show, Ellen DeGeneres received the People’s Choice Favorite Humanitarian Award, which gifts her with a $100,000 donation from Walgreens that she is passing on to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The award comes just days after DeGeneres’ high-rated talk show was renewed through 2020.
Accepting the award from Melissa McCarthy, DeGeneres started her speech by asking, « Would I call myself the Mother Teresa of talk shows, the Dalai Lama of daytime? No. But I’m sure someone out there has. » Adding that she certainly never « set out to receive any of the many, many, many, many awards I have received over the years. » She said it’s strange to get an award for being nice and kind, which she sees is « the point of being a human. »
Near the end of the night, the show had its own Kanye West-VMAs moment when an audience member jumped on stage and grabbed the mic from the co-hosts of The Talk, who were accepting their award for favorite daytime TV hosting team.
