Russia proved too strong with a four-goal blitz in the third period to see off a spirited USA challenge for the defending champions to set up a Final showdown with Canada.

Goals from Taylor Hall and Jason Spezza were enough for a composed Canada to overcome hosts Czech Republic 2-0 to reach their first gold-medal game since 2009 on the back of an impressive 60 goals overall.

Jaromir Jagr’s third period goal along with another from Vladimir Sobotka took Czech Republic past Finland 5-3 in a pulsating semi-final in Prague which saw both sides go toe-to-toe to the very end.

Last year’s semi-final repeat saw Russia hold back Sweden for a 5-3 win after going three goals ahead before the Swedes drew level only for Yevgeni Malkin and Vladimir Tarasenko to seal it in the third period.

Canada ran out 9-0 winners over Belarus to cruise to a first semi-finals since 2009, with a four-goal run in the first quarter starting the goal-rush which did not let up as Tyler Seguin bagged a hat-trick.

Quarterfinal 1 : USA sink Swiss to book Semis | #IIHFWorlds 2015

USA came from a goal down to defeat Switzerland 3-1, with two goals in a minute midway through the second period to continue their march to the semi-finals.
