Maybelline Better Skin Challenge

not so sour lemons

A while ago, I signed up for a site called, Influenster, which give me the opportunity to test, review, etc. different products (not only makeup).

And yes, you should definitely click that link and sign up, cause one, you can get free stuff.  And two, using my link give me 10 points or something like that 😀

Anyway, last month, I got accepted into my first Voxbox trial, for Maybelline’s Superstay Better Skin foundation.  Which means, I got the full size product for free in the mail with the expectation that I would take the 3 week better skin challenge and write a review when I finished.

Géographie de la Birmanie

// 8-15 avril 2014

Don’t Panic: European Hitchhiking Trends of Our Days

Do you want to see my spaceship?

The Heart of Gold’s Improbability Drive made it the most powerful and unpredictable ship in existence. There was nothing it couldn’t do, provided you knew exactly how improbable it was that the thing you wanted it to do would ever happen…

’The daaaaay is beauuuuutiful!’ he yelled into my face as soon as I scrambled up into the truck cabin. The driver repeated this word, ‘beautiful’, about 26 times during our 45-minute drive from Frederikshavn to Aalborg.

I looked out of the window. Just pissing rain and ceaseless wind in the gray early Danish spring.

‘My last drive of the season! I am going to dump this truck at home and in a few weeks set sailing towards Scotland on my boat!’ he continued, and I thought that this is probably the happiest person I met in a very long time. He had nothing to complain about, and…

Taking back the streets of Beirut

Iain Akerman

Yazan1Photograph: Yazan Halwani’s ‘Fairuz’ in Gemmayze

“There is an alternative voice rising,” says Yazan Halwani, the young Lebanese street artist. “I’m not going to say that what I do is going to free Lebanon or change the sectarian political system, or fix any regional problem, it’s far from that. But it tells people that you don’t have to accept what’s already there.”

Halwani has just finished university for the day when we catch up, his English carrying more than the hint of a French accent. On occasion he talks 19 to the dozen, such is his passion for graffiti, calligraphy and the reclamation of Beirut’s streets from the clutches of the city’s myriad political parties. For an alternative voice, he is both endearing and charismatic.

Following a brief misunderstanding in February this year, the possibility that much of his work – and that of other graffiti artists – would be removed…

Bangkok bomb blast: Fears for Brits as ’27 killed’ in attack on Thai capital

UP TO 27 people are feared dead and over 100 have been injured in a huge explosion in Thailand’s capital Bangkok.

A policeman at the scene of the blast

Police chief Prawut Thawornsiri said the blast, near a shrine at a major Bangkok intersection, was caused by a bomb believed to have been planted on a motorcyle.

The possible terror attack, which took place at around 7pm local time, or 1pm BST, happened near the Erawan Shrine, next to a five-star hotel in the centre of the Thai capital’s Chidlom district.

The police chief added: « Those who have planted this bomb are cruel. They aim to kill because everyone knows that at 7pm the shrine is crowded with Thais and foreigners.

« Planting a bomb there means they want to see a lot of dead people. »

The shrine is to the Hindu god Brahma, but is also a centre of worship for Buddhists and is a popular site for…

Ranking the Goalkeepers of the Premiership

Across The Pond

While it may be true that goal-scorers get all the glory, their counterparts at the other end of the pitch are just as important when it comes to the success of the team. It is said that goalkeepers are a different breed, and that adage certainly rings true when week-after-week we see them diving headfirst at the feet of opponents. Goalies are also the ones who may stand around doing next to nothing for eighty-nine minutes and are still able to make the game-saving stop in the ninetieth minute. Their job is not easy, and only a select few are capable of doing the it.

Some, of course, do it better than others. At Across the Pond, we decided to rank the teams based on their strength at the goalkeeper position. This means that all twenty clubs will be represented by who we think is their strongest option in the back…
