No Change In The Frequency Of Hot Days In France

Real Science

Experts say that global warming increases the probability of heatwaves in Europe, but there is zero evidence to back that idea up. The frequency of 90 degrees days in France has not changed, and their hottest summer was 1911 – when almost 8% of all temperature readings were over 90 degrees.

Meet New Greek Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos

Greek Left Review

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 07/06/2015 http://www.zerohedge.com

YanisEuclid

Now that Yanis Varoufakis has metamorphosed from economist academic to controversial finance minister to political martyr (a transition he punctuated Monday morning by proclaiming he will henceforth “wear creditors’ loathing with pride”), the eyes of the financial universe will turn nervously to newly-appointed Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos who has led Greece’s negotiations with creditors since Varoufakis was sidelined after making a scene at an April Eurogroup meeting in Riga.
Here’s more on Tsakalotos from The Telegraph:

An Oxford-educated economist, Mr Tsakalotos has much in common with the political elite of Westminster, having been educated at St Paul’s school, before going on to read politics, philosophy and economics (PPE) as an undergraduate. He later completed his PhD in economics from Oxford in 1989.

Wimbledon 2015: Novak Djokovic and the Buddhist temple minutes from Centre Court that helps him maintain his winning ways

Doing or Not Doing God: religion, policy & politics

Shortly after stepping off Wimbledon’s Centre Court on Friday, where he recorded yet another comfortable straight-sets victory, Novak Djokovic was asked what goes through his mind when he plays. His reply was telling.

“I try to put myself only in the present moment, not fight against the thoughts and the pressure and the excitement, but just acknowledge them and be aware of present thoughts but also try to keep my composure and calm,” the defending champion said. “I try to just be in the moment and enjoy.”

Djokovic is often regarded as one of the sport’s strongest players when it comes to mental toughness. It is a technique he has refined through meditation and, when he is at Wimbledon, he uses a nearby Buddhist temple as his refuge.

The Buddhapadipa Temple is on a leafy suburban street only a five-minute walk from the All England Club. Djokovic, who has been…

Reporter at Wimbledon asked if Caroline Wozniacki had message for injured ex Rory McIlroy

For The Win

Someone asked Caroline Wozniacki a question about Rory McIlroy on Monday at Wimbledon and, shockingly, it wasn’t even the dumbest question posed in the press rooms at the All England Club on Monday. First, after Wozniacki’s straight-set loss to Garbine Muguruza, some wise soul decided to talk about the ridiculous injury Caro’s ex suffered while playing soccer before the British Open.

Wozniacki, wisely, did not respond, though I wish she had rolled her eyes and said, « you don’t ask him about me every time he loses to Jordan Spieth, do you? »

spieth

Yet, despite how offensive and absurd that question was, it was topped by one asked later in the day.

« Do you feel good going into the quarterfinal, » a reporter asked Tomas Berdych.

Ordinarily, this…

The meeting of Greek political leaders has just finished with an agreed text that will be published later. Apparently the post-referendum Greek proposal will be based on the Juncker proposal of 26/6/2015 with some « improvements ».
See the chart below for a sight of what concessions are entailed.
In each of these proposals it is stated that the private management of banks will be respected.
